Kyiv, February 10, 2016.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0A\u00a0civil Volkswagen minibus tripped an explosive device today at 7:56 a.m., 600 meters from\u00a0Maryinka\u00a0checkpoint from the side of the temporarily occupied territories. \u201cThe bus was standing in a line of vehicles proceeding from militants-controlled territories. The driver crossed on the roadside, neglecting\u00a0the signs warning of mine threat. There were five passengers in the car. Three of them died at the scene as a result of the blast and one person died on the way to hospital,\u201d elaborated Colonel\u00a0Andriy\u00a0Lysenko,\u00a0spokesman of Presidential Administration on ATO-related issues at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.\u00a0He said that military engineers, officers of Donetsk regional prosecutor\u2019s office and\u00a0members\u00a0of\u00a0OSCE Special Monitoring Mission\u00a0are working at the site of the tragedy\u00a0at present.\u00a0\u201cWe appeal to mass media to remain vigilant, as this incident may be used for the purposes of Russian propaganda,\u201d emphasized the spokesman. Col. Lysenko expressed sympathy with the families of 17 Kramatorsk residents who died one year before, February 10, 2015, when militants shelled the town from\u00a0Smerch\u00a0rocket launchers.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred to casualties in combat yesterday. In the\u00a0Luhansk\u00a0sector militants attacked ATO troops\u2019 positions near\u00a0Stanytsia\u00a0Luhanska\u00a0with mortar fire. Low intensity combat activity continues in the Donetsk and\u00a0Mariupolsectors, sporadically using 82-mm mortar launchers and armored personnel vehicles.\u00a0\u201cMilitants were the most active in the segment between\u00a0Zaitseve\u00a0and\u00a0Maiorsk\u00a0in the Donetsk sector. Russia-backed militant groups attack\u00a0from several directions simultaneously,\u00a0shooting from south part of\u00a0Zaitseve, coal mine 6-7 settlement etc,\u201d said the spokesman. Militants used 82-mm mortar launchers twice in this sector. Moreover, Russia-backed militant groups continue shooting at the\u00a0Svitlodarsk\u00a0bulge and in the vicinity of Donetsk airport.\u00a0\u201cThe armistice at the frontline holds only several hours in the morning. Militants open disturbing fire at our positions all the rest of the time,\u201d said Col.\u00a0Lysenko.<\/p>\n

In the\u00a0Mariupol\u00a0sector the most intense shelling took place in\u00a0Mariinka. \u201cHostile snipers attacked at least four times. Moreover, militants provocatively shot from automatic grenade launcher at\u00a0Mariinka\u00a0checkpoint from the direction of\u00a0Oleksandrivka\u00a0village. The shells were falling in the\u00a0immediate vicinity of the\u00a0checkpoint\u00a0with lots of civilians present there.\u00a0Fortunately, no one was hurt,\u201d informed Col.\u00a0Lysenko.\u00a0He said that militants widely use machine guns and grenade launchers of various systems, and ATO forces respond with fire. \u201cRussia-backed militants started shelling Ukrainian positions after sunset, and stopped only in five hours. Militant groups used 82-mm mortar launchers four times in this sector,\u201d informed the spokesman.<\/p>\n

According to Ukrainian intelligence,\u00a0authorities of self-proclaimed \u2018Luhansk\u00a0people\u2019s republic\u2019 are opening military training departments in higher educational institutions on the temporarily occupied territories of\u00a0Luhansk\u00a0region. \u201cRussian officers are supervising this process. They will hold classes on general military training,\u201d said Col. Lysenko. He added that the students trained there will be most likely encouraged to join the ranks of Russia-backed militant groups. \u201cMoreover, militants keep watch at checkpoints 2-3 days instead of one due to shortened staffing level,\u201d said the spokesman.<\/p>\n

Law enforcements in\u00a0Kostiantynivka\u00a0detained a militant of so-called \u2018Voisko\u00a0Donskoe\u2019, a militant group of self-proclaimed \u2018Donetsk people\u2019s republic\u2019. \u201cRecurrent frictions started between different militants groups, following which the militant\u2019s unit was discontinues and he himself fled to the territory controlled by Ukraine,\u201d said Col. Lysenko.<\/p>\n

Law enforcements found three weapon caches. Three\u00a0RPG-18\u00a0and\u00a0RPG-22 grenade launchers with two missiles for RPG-7 were found in the first two caches in the vicinity of\u00a0Novotroitskeand\u00a0Dokuchaevsk\u00a0in Donetsk region.\u00a0\u201cIt was found that one missile was made in Russia in 2008,\u201d said Col. Lysenko.\u00a0The third cache was found in\u00a0Novomykhailivka\u00a0village in Donetsk region. \u201cLaw enforcement officers seized three RPG-22 grenade launchers, eight shells for RPG-7 grenade launcher, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines and ammunition,\u201d informed the spokesman.<\/p>\n
