Kyiv,\u00a0August\u00a027, 2016<\/strong>.\u00a0Russia-backed\u00a0militants\u00a0conducted\u00a0a\u00a0series\u00a0of\u00a0powerful\u00a0attacks\u00a0at\u00a0Stanytsia\u00a0Luhanska\u00a0using\u00a0mortar\u00a0launchers\u00a0and\u00a0armor,\u00a0which\u00a0resulted\u00a0in\u00a0damaged\u00a0trunk\u00a0transmission\u00a0line,\u00a0leaving\u00a012\u00a0thousand\u00a0people\u00a0without\u00a0electricity and water.The fault is located in dangerous place where repair crew is working,\u201d\u00a0informed Colonel Andriy Lysenko, spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.\u00a0Krymske\u00a0was\u00a0another\u00a0flashpoint\u00a0yesterday.\u00a0Russia-backed militant groups opened fire from 122-mm artillery three times. All the attacks took place during\u00a0the hours of darkness, in total over 70 missiles were launched. \u201cA number of hostile provocations took place in other frontline areas \u2013 in Syze, Zolote and Popasna,\u201d added Col. Lysenko.<\/p>\n

37 hostile attacks took place in the Donetsk sector, mostly from heavy armor. Russian proxies violated the ceasefire along the entire frontline, except for an area south of Horlivka and north of Yasynuvata. Especially intense attacks at Ukrainian positions took place at the Svitlodarsk bulge, near Zaitseve, in the Avdiivka industrial area\u00a0and in Avdiivka-Pisky frontline area. In addition to massive\u00a0use of mortar launchers, the enemy used cannons and tanks. \u201cMilitants damaged two residential buildings during a night shelling. According to preliminary information, their residents escaped unharmed,\u201d said Col. Lysenko.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the\u00a0Mariupol\u00a0sector\u00a031\u00a0hostile\u00a0attacks\u00a0took\u00a0place, 17\u00a0of\u00a0them\u00a0from82-mm\u00a0and\u00a0152-mm\u00a0mortar\u00a0launchers and 52-mm cannons. Two civilians were injured: a hostile sniper shot a volunteer dead and a man was wounded at Mariinka checkpoint. Entire batteries of militants\u2019 mortars and cannons are deployed along the frontline. \u201cThey are located in Staromykhailivka, Petrovskyi district of Donetsk, Olenivka, Dokuchaevsk, Kominternove and Sakhanka,\u201d elaborated the spokesman. Record long and intense mortar attack took place in Shyrokyne. According to Col. Lysenko, militants launched over 180 mortar shells at our positions within two hours. \u201cThere are no calm areas in the frontline, attacks are registered\u00a0virtually near each inhabited locality and important ATO troops\u2019 position in the frontline,\u201d emphasized the spokesman.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses in combat yesterday, and four troops were wounded.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian military intelligence identified hostile cannoneers from so-called 9th\u00a0regiment of the Russian occupation troops who at the direction of Russian General Staff are regularly shelling civil objects in the Mariupol sector (Starohnativka \u2013 Shyrokyne frontline area). According to Col. Lysenko, these are a 33-year-old Russian citizen Yevgeniy Gudz from Maikop, a 23-year-old Russian citizen Dmitriy Dolev from Ufa, a 22-year-old Ruslan Khukhizianov, a 27year-old Anatoliy Agariov and a 31-year-old Aleksandr\u00a0Agariov.\u201cThese people shelled Chermalyk village from Gvozdika self-propelled artillery mount on August 16, destroying an agro-enterprise together with agricultural equipment as well as civilians\u2019 houses,\u201d elaborated Col. Lysenko.<\/p>\n
