Situation in the zone of military operations in eastern\u00a0Ukraine<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ceasefire is generally observed\u00a0in the\u00a0ATO zoneexcept for\u00a0sporadic armed provocations\u00a0from\u00a0theadversary\u2019s side,\u00a0according to the press center of the \u2018anti-terror\u2019 operation (ATO)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Donetsk\u00a0sector,\u00a0the Russian occupation troops made provocations using heavy machineguns and small arms\u00a0in Verkhniotoretske\u00a0yesterday.\u00a0The\u00a0enemy used grenade launchers and small arms\u00a0near Avdiivka andYasynuvata. In addition,\u00a0militants fired\u00a082\u00a0mm\u00a0mortars on\u00a0Avdiivka\u00a0and an\u00a0enemy\u2019s sniper targeted the Ukrainian ATO positions in\u00a0the region.\u00a0The positions of\u00a0the Ukrainian army near Vodiane, Pavlopil, Talakivka, and Maryinka were shelled with small arms.\u00a0In Mariupol\u00a0sector,\u00a0near\u00a0Shyrokyne,\u00a0the adversary attacked the\u00a0Ukrainian\u00a0positions\u00a0using APC armament and small arms\u00a0as well as\u00a0grenade launchers\u00a0at\u00a09am.<\/p>\n

Over\u00a0the past week,\u00a0249 attacks\u00a0of\u00a0Russia-backed military groups\u00a0were recorded. As a result of\u00a0hostilities\u00a0and\u00a0blasts of\u00a0the\u00a0self-explosive devices,\u00a0two\u00a0servicemen were\u00a0killed, 20 Ukrainian\u00a0servicemen\u00a0and one border guard\u00a0were\u00a0wounded (4\u00a0Armed Forces\u00a0servicemen\u00a0and\u00a0a border guard\u00a0were wounded by grenade blast in\u00a0a\u00a0medical car).<\/p>\n

Ceasefire: political statements.<\/strong>\u00a0The US Department of State welcomed cease-fire in Donbas<\/a>, noting that\u00a0a sustained ceasefire would enable the parties to fulfill their commitments under the\u00a0Minsk\u00a0agreements. “The\u00a0United States\u00a0welcomes the \u201cschool year\u201d ceasefire recommitment made by\u00a0Ukraine\u00a0and\u00a0Russia\u00a0and witnessed by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in\u00a0Europe,” declared\u00a0John Kirby,\u00a0Assistant Secretary\u00a0and Department Spokesperson, in the\u00a0statement.\u00a0Berlin also welcomed the observance of ceasefire in Donbas<\/a>, and expressed\u00a0hope that it would lead\u00a0to further\u00a0implementation\u00a0of the\u00a0Minsk\u00a0agreements, said German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Schaefer.<\/p>\n

“We note that the ceasefire in Ukraine holds from September 1<\/a>, and it\u00a0can\u00a0become the basis for a lasting solution to the conflict. We continue to insist on full implementation of the\u00a0Minsk\u00a0agreements,”\u00a0said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini on Saturday,\u00a0September 3, on\u00a0the results of the informal meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers.<\/p>\n

Meeting of the IMF Board of Directors<\/a>\u00a0devoted\u00a0to\u00a0the second review\u00a0of the\u00a0cooperation program with Ukrainemay\u00a0be held\u00a0in the second half of September.\u00a0This was informed by\u00a0Gerry Rice,\u00a0Fund spokesman.
