We tried to award at least 20 works, and it was really difficult to select the winners,\u201d said jury member Andriy Blinov, director of economic programs at \u201cRadio Vesti\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Andriy Kulykov, head of \u201cHromadske Radio\u201d Board reminded that the competition was founded by two NGOs, \u201cInstitute of Tax Reforms\u201d and \u201cHromadske Radio\u201d with the aim to encourage economic journalists. \u201cThis competition is not supported by political parties. Everyone who participated did it by their own will,\u201d noted Olena Khotenko, head of the Council at \u201cInstitute of Tax Reforms\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Winners<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There were eight nominations within the competition. The works were analyzed by 11 experts and four jury members. The main evaluation criteria were up-to-date issue, creativity and compliance with journalism standards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The prize \u201cJournalist initiative\u201d was awarded to Maryna Ansiforova (programs \u201cNashi Hroshi\u201d, \u201cDosudylysya\u201d, \u201cA one million gift for a judge\u201d etc.), \u00a0Tetyana Volkova, journalist of \u201cPavlograd.dp.ua\u201d (\u201cMarket economy or what\u2019s the cost of trade on Pavlograd markets\u201d), Vladyslav Krasinskyi from \u201cRealist online\u201d with his article \u201cVidrodzhennya\u201d and Onyschenko: what NABU conceals about the \u201cgas case\u201d and Sergiy Syvolap from Kyiv State Regional Broadcasting Company with his program (\u201cSvoya ferma\u201d (\u201cMy farm\u201d).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Iryna Pavliuk from TV channel \u201cZIK\u201d won the prize in the nomination \u201cDebut of the year in economic journalism\u201d with her coverage \u201cLysty u potoybichia\u201d within the program \u201cBrat za brata\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The prize for best video coverage on the national level was awarded to Sergiy Bratishko from TV channel \u201cZIK\u201d for his coverage \u201cChasing the ghosts of Housing &amp; Communal Services\u201d. He also received special award from \u201cRadio Vesti\u201d, Andriy Blinov invited him as a guest to his program \u201cPoint of view\u201d. Vsevolod Nekrasov from \u201cEconomichna Pravda\u201d and Oleksandr Yaroschuk from \u201cAgropolit.com\u201d shared the national prize for best article (articles \u201cEUR 22 Tax Limit for parcels: death to shadow market or death to competition\u201d and \u201cUAH 600 million stake or Will Ukraine escape from wood exports trap\u201d).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The prize for the best video coverage in regional media was awarded to Oksana Vysochanska from \u201cZIK\u201d TV channel (\u201cGutsul Cheese. In search of European markets\u201d). The prize for the best article in regional media was awarded to Mariya Havryliuk from online newspaper \u201cKURS.if.ua\u201d (\u201cFuture of industrial zones: When industrial parks will start their work in Prykarpattya\u201d <em>[historical name of lands close to Carpathian mountains, mainly in Ivano-Frankivsk region \u2013 transl.note]<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI would like to encourage journalists from regional media to write less about issues of the national level but pay more attention to positive transformations at the local level. [\u2026] A number of your works show the processes that otherwise wouldn\u2019t have been noticed here in Kyiv. It is important to write not only about urgent problems, but also about things that change for better. These success stories would inspire not only your local audience but the whole country,\u201d said Borys Kushniruk, expert in economics and finance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The jury did not select winners in nominations \u201cNational prize for best radio coverage\u201d and \u201cJournalist prize for best radio coverage in regional media\u201d as there were only three works submitted within these nominations. However, all of them received special awards and prizes for their participation.<\/p>\n<p>Several works from Vinnytsia and Rivne regions received special awards. \u201cThese works were not selected as winners in nominations, but organizers and the jury made a very positive comment about them,\u201d Olena Khotenko noted. In particular, these are works of Inna Omelyanchuk form \u201cRivnensky Cooperator\u201d newspaper and \u201cChallenges for small businesses\u201d by Svitlana Semashko from Vinnytsia Regional Direction of the National Broadcasting Company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The organizers mentioned that each winner will receive financial award (UAH 7 thousand for the national prize and UAH 4 thousand for the regional media prize). The appropriate taxes will be paid by the \u201cInstitute of Tax Reforms\u201d, so the journalists will receive the full amount. In addition, \u201cHromadske Radio\u201d offered their own present for all participants. This is the book \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/uacrisis.org\/50853-knizhka-proti-nasilstva\">Against Violence<\/a>\u201d addressing the problem of violence in the family.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>High quality journalism makes reforms understandable for the society <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Competition will be held again next year and will encompass a wider range of issues, the organizers say. \u201cIt is a very useful and up-to-date initiative. There is a lot of transformation that influences the life of everyone. Unfortunately, this information is often spread by the media without any explanations, while we would like to see an in-depth analysis,\u201d noted Olga Germanova, press officer of the Parliamentary Committee on Tax &amp; Customs Policies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cPublic opinion about reforms depends on your understanding of the reforms, as well as experts, economists and NGOs awareness about this public opinion depends on you as well.
