Kyiv, 5 March 2014 \u2013 Petro Poroshenko, Co-Chair of the Ukraine-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, commented on the situation in Crimea stating that today all EU officials have taken a clear stance to condemn Russia\u2019s act of aggression in Crimea.<\/p>\n

\u2018Our main demand today is not de-escalation of the conflict but de-occupation.\u00a0 Military forces must be withdrawn from Ukraine and returned to their permanent dislocation. Only after that will we be ready to resolve all issues relating to the autonomy, Sevastopol status and language at the round table\u2019, added Mr. Poroshenko.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Poroshenko, \u2018Ukraine must prove its independence both in Crimea and in the gas market\u2019. Commenting on the gas issue, Mr. Poroshenko stressed that \u2018gas issue should no longer be a political factor of influence on Ukraine, and that is why, as a citizen, I do not care what the gas price will be. For me it is important that partnership relations are maintained between the seller and the buyer: if the price is too high, the seller will lose the market\u2019.<\/p>\n

Mr. Poroshenko referred to the energy sector as being the most corrupt in the country. \u2018One of the most important tasks is to \u0441lear the gas industry of corruption\u2019, stated Mr. Poroshenko.<\/p>\n
