Kyiv, 6 March 2014 \u2013 Pavlo Sheremeta, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, noted that they are working to bring financial resources into the country and they are on track. \u2018The IMF Mission is in Kyiv, we had a meeting yesterday, and another one will be held tomorrow morning. The mission is currently investigating the situation\u2019 \u2013 the Minister added.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Sheremeta, the immediate priorities of the Ministry are:<\/p>\n

1. Transparency of public procurement. There are 3 draft bills to be discussed within the next 5 days. Their ultimate goal is remove corruption. As part of this process, on Monday the Minister ordered to fully open up public procurement portal www.tender.me.gov.ua<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2. Economic deregulation. The main purpose is to prepare legislation that would allow Ukraine to enter the top 10 countries for ease of doing business.<\/p>\n

3. Strengthening of human capital. According to Mr. Sheremeta, de-regulation alone is not enough to tackle the challenges Ukraine is facing today.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the Ukraine-EU association agreement, Mr. Sheremeta noted, that it should be signed by the newly-elect President of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Mr. Sheremeta also added that \u2018Ukraine government\u2019s major expectations of support have been met. We appreciate the speed and the scope of the help. Now we should rely on ourselves\u2019.<\/p>\n

Pavlo Sheremeta is the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. He was the founder and first Dean of the Kyiv Mohyla Business School. In 2006\u20132010, he was Vice-President of the Central and East European Management Development Association. In 2008\u20132011, he was part of the team of the Blue Ocean Strategy Institute of Malaysia, which advised the Malaysian government on economic reforms. From November 2012 to February 2014, Mr. Sheremeta was the President of the Kyiv School of Economics.<\/p>\n
