Kyiv, December 30, 2015. The situation in the ATO zone in the east of Ukraine varies in different sectors: no combat activity took place in the Luhansk sector yesterday, and militants’ snipers continue working in the Donetsk sector. “Two episodes of sniping fire were recorded near Luhanske village yesterday – at night time and during the day. Moreover, the enemy shot at our strongholds south of the neighboring Troitske village using machine guns. It was absolutely calm on the north outskirts of Horlivka yesterday,” said Colonel Lysenko, spokesperson of Presidential Administration on ATO-related issues at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.  Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses in combat yesterday and no troops were wounded.

A series of militants’ provocations, mostly involving small arms, was instigated in the vicinity of Novhorodske, Horlivka and Yasynuvata. Combat activity of low intensity continues near Donetsk airport. “The biggest number of hostile attacks took place in Opytne and and Pisky. Militants use no heavy armour,” added Col. Lysenko.

Militants attacked Ukrainian positions with aimed fire two times near Mariinka in the Mariupol sector. They shot from grenade launchers and small arms. Moreover, Russia-backed militant groups violated armistice near Dokuchaievsk where they were shooting from a machine gun for five minutes. “A hostile unmanned aerial vehicle was observed near Kostiantynivka,” said Col. Lysenko.
