Ministry of Defense: Militants hit inhabited Zaitseve with Grad MLRS salvo

Yesterday, Russia-backed militants conducted numerous attacks in the ATO zone yesterday using Grad MLRS, 152-mm artillery, mortars, and tanks against Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions and civilian inhabited locality. Militants’ shelling of Ukrainian positions near Zaitseve hit Koliadenka street of Zaitseve with Grad missiles about 20:00, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Luhansk sector, militants committed 13 ceasefire violations. Around 20:00, militants shelled Ukrainian positions near Zaitseve with 60 Grad MLRS rockets, thirty-six 152-mm artillery rounds,” elaborated Col. Lysenko. Moreover, Russian proxies attacked Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions near Zaitseve three times during the day using IFV weapons, 82-mm mortars, heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and small weapons. In addition, militants fired three 120-mm rounds at Ukrainian positions near Novoluhanske, and two more in the vicinity of Lozove, and attacked ATO troops’ positions near Novhorodske using a tank, 82-mm mortars, heavy machine guns, and small weapons. “Moreover, they used 82-mm mortars near Novotoshkivske and Luhanske,” added the spokesman. Militants repeatedly attacked with heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and small arms near Svitlodarsk and Troitske. In case of a direct threat, Ukrainian troops responded with grenade launchers and heavy machine guns.

In Donetsk sector, ten ceasefire violations on the part of Russia-backed militants were recorded yesterday. They fired twelve 120-mm mortar rounds at Ukrainian positions near Verkhniotoretske and used 120-mm and 82-mm mortars near Shyrokyne. Russian proxies attacked Ukrainian positions near Maryinka and Novotroitske with IFV weapons. “Moreover, they used mounted and under-barrel grenade launchers and heavy machine guns in these localities. The enemy repeatedly used the same weapons to attack Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka, Starohnativka, and Krasnohorivka,” added Col. Lysenko. Ukrainian troops responded with fire to almost every attack using weapons not banned under the Minsk agreements

In total, militants conducted 23 aimed attacks at Ukrainian positions along the entire contact line. Ukrainian troops responded with fire 17 times.

Two Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in action near Shyrokyne and Starohnativka.
