Kyiv, July 27, 2015. “A two-day workshop for psychologists will take place from September 19-20 in Kyiv. It will be fully dedicated to teaching psychologists how to support children who have lost their parents in combat actions,” said Nicholas Tacussel, a French specialist on neuropsychology, psychosomatics and leadership theory and founder of the NGO Smile for Ukraine, during a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Day one of the workshop will entail master classes for psychologists who provide psychological counseling to children. The first half of the workshop’s second day will follow up on the master classes. A concert for children who have lost their fathers in the ATO zone will take place on the evening of the second day. Children whose fathers are being treated at military hospitals for serious injuries in the ATO zone will attend. “I would like to address Ukrainian psychologists working with children and invite them to join our workshop,” said Tacussel. “In total, we estimate the expected number of participants to be fifty people.”

Tacussel himself as well as Adeline Paoli, a clinical psychologist from Nimes in the south of France, will lead the workshop. Paoli is a medical forensic expert at the Nimes Court of Appeals.

Workshop participation is free of charge. The only formal criterion in applicant selection is the requirement that participants provide psychological treatment and counseling to children.
