Colonel Lysenko: Ukrainian Armed Forces incur no casualties

Militants continue attacking in all the sectors. 152-mm cannons used in Stanytsia Luhanska. Ukraine is celebrating the Defender of Ukraine Day.

Kyiv, October 14, 2016. Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no casualties in combat yesterday, informed the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on ATO related issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. 
10 militants’ attacks took place in the Luhansk sector yesterday, one attack involved use of heavy armor. Russia-backed militants violated the ceasefire twice in Stanytsia Luhanska. They used small weapons in the Popasna district, and heavy artillery – 152-mm cannons -were used just before the midnight. The attack started from Stakhaniv, and 15 missiles were launched. 
Militants conducted one attack in the Avdiivka industrial area in the Donetsk sector. In addition to small weapons, militants were using mortar launchers of both calibers.
14 militants’ attacks took place in the Mariupol sector yesterday, five of them involved use of heavy armor. The insurgents used heavy armor in Vodiane -Shyrokyne frontline area. “The number of launched missiles exceeded two hundred. Militants fire from pre-arranged positions from the distance of about five kilometres.  Hostile provocations involving use of small weapons also took place in Mariinka, Bohdanivka and Talakivka,” elaborated the spokesman.

According to Col. Lysenko, soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine detained a man at a checkpoint in the ATO zone. He was trying to smuggle ammunition in his vehicle. Large number of 7.62 cartridges, grenades, trench flares and smoke bombs were found on the back seat of the vehicle during its inspection.

Col. Lysenko congratulated every defender of Ukraine on their holiday.

“Ukrainians have been defending their Motherland for over 2.5 years. Military service and patriotism united men and women of different beliefs, religions and languages for the sake of preserving independence of Ukraine and preventing agresssors from threatening peace and safety of Ukrainian people. We will always remember every hero who gave his life for Ukraine,” summarized Col. Lysenko.
