Ukraine experienced the horrors of the Second World War. Two brutal totalitarian regimes of the XX century – Nazi and Soviet – fought for control over Ukrainian lands. The fate of Ukrainians was a hard one, as they were forced to join the opposing armies engaged in this horrible war.
