Oleksandr Motuzyanyk: ceasefire holds in ATO zone, no Ukrainian troops die yesterday

Kyiv, September 6, 2015. Total ceasefire still holds in the Luhansk and Mariupol sectors. Militants’ armed provocations were observed only in the Donetsk sector, mostly using light arms and grenade launchers. Ceasefire was violated three times near Zaitseve north of Horlivka, said Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, spokesperson of the Administration of the President of Ukraine on ATO-related issues, at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

According to Col. Motuzyanyk, militants instigated several brief armed provocations in the vicinity of Donetsk airport, in particular near Avdiivka, Opytne and Pisky. Russia-backed militants sporadically use prohibited weapons. Insurgent fired at Ukrainian positions from a tank and 120mm mortars.

Col. Motuzyanyk said that the Armed Forces incurred no losses in the past 24 hours, but five troops were injured.

Special tactical training exercises of the South operational command forces are in progress near Mykolayiv, at Shyrovyi Lan military training grounds. Having completed the training, the troops will return to Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The spokesperson also informed of force rotation taking place among Ukrainian troops and law enforcements. Troops from special armored infantry battalion came back to Dnipropetrovsk from the ATO zone. A composite police detachment which used to guard strategic location at Vuhlehirska combined heat and power plant returned to Cherkasy.

Col. Motuzyanyk added that Ukraine’s Security Service found a cache near Artemivsk-Lysychansk road containing two anti-tank guided missiles, forty rocket projectiles as well as almost a hundred hand grenades, fifteen thousand cartridges of various calibers, grenade shells, propelling charges and TNT blocks.
