Ministry of Defense: Militants go back to the “disturbing fire” practice

Main hostilities in the ATO zone take place in the Avdiivka industrial area and on its flanks. Militants were conducting shooting attacks for eight hours with recesses. Russian proxies used mortars, launching several dozen shells. Ukrainian troops responded with fire. “Adversaries also violated the armistice in other areas yesterday, first of all, at the Svitlodarsk bulge, Horlivka perimeter and Donetsk airport. Therefore, the enemy returned to its usual practice of “disturbing fire”, mostly during the hours of darkness,” informed the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on ATO related issues Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Militants conducted 23 attacks in the Donetsk sector, six of these involved use of mortar launchers.

The armistice held absolutely in the Luhansk sector. Militants’ activity in the Mariupol sector was focused in Pavlopil-Shyrokyne area. Russian proxies were shelling Ukrainian strongholds 24/7. “The enemy actively used armor yesterday. They organized intense mortar attack in Pavlopil,” said the spokesman. Moreover, insurgents instigated escalation near Krasnohorivka late at nights. Militants used mortar launchers and armored personnel carriers, and the firefight lasted about one hour. Russia-backed groups conducted 36 shooting attacks in the Mariupol sector.

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses in combat yesterday, and two troops were wounded. “It happened in Vodiane and Shyrokyne in the Mariupol sector,” added Col. Motuzyanyk.
