Yesterday pro-Russian militants carried out 18, 5 and 36 shellings against Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk, Luhansk and Mariupol sectors respectively.

In Donetsk sector the situation remains tense in Avdiivka and adjacent areas, especially in Kamianka. The militants intensified attacks in this segment of frontline after midday and conducted them with short breaks until late evening. “At this area over 150 mortar shells were launched, more than 65 times tank weapons were used, and the extensive use of light armaments and snipers were recorded,” said Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk during the daily briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

At other segments of frontline, namely at Svitlodarsk bulge, in Zaytseve, and near the Donetsk airport, Russian proxies fired large-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers, and sporadically used mortars. Each armed attack lasted no more than 30 minutes.

No Ukrainian servicemen were killed yesterday, however, one serviceman was wounded in action near the Donetsk airport.

In the Luhansk sector warfare was conducted mostly in Popasna district. Russia-backed militants twice shelled Ukrainian positions with mortars near Katerynivka and Novooleksandrivka, and used light weapons throughout the day. “The frontline remained silent farther eastwards up to Stanytsia Luhanska, where around 8 p.m. militants fired grenade launchers at Ukrainian positions,”- noted the MOD spokesperson on ATO related issues.

In the Mariupol sector, Russia’s proxies used the weapons of infantry fighting vehicle in Taramchuk; besides this incident, the fighting took place exclusively in coastal areas from Pavlopol to Shyrokyne, where the proxies fired light weapons around the clock. “Here the enemy used heavy armaments, namely 82mm mortars, only in Vodiane and Shyrokyne,” – added Col. Oleksandr Motuzyanyk.
