This week, fighting continued to rage all across the front lines. Russia continued to strike Ukrainian cities and towns far behind the front lines with missiles and drones. A Russian missile strike on Dnipro on Tuesday injured eight people, including a month-old boy, and caused a fire. According to British defense intelligence, Russian forces make minor gains and take heavy losses in Donetsk region.
Ukraine continues to strike back. Late in the week, Ukraine’s defense intelligence said it had destroyed a Russian tugboat off the Crimea coast, using naval drones. It also carried out large-scale DDoS attacks on Russian government agencies and state-run companies.
It was a busy diplomatic week. President Zelenskyi has arrived in France for the ceremonies honoring the 80th anniversary of D-Day. He is set to meet with U.S. President Biden twice in the course of two weeks. China said more than 20 countries back its peace plan for Ukraine. Ukraine has responded with criticism of the concept.
Ukraine downs five missiles, 48 drones launched by Russia at critical infrastructure overnight.
The Ukrainian air force shot down all five missiles and 48 out of 53 Shahed drones over nine regions during Russia’s overnight attack, the Ukrainian military said on Friday.
