Geopolitical dialogues with Valeriy Chaly

On October 22 at 14:00, UCMC will host a press event “Geopolitical dialogues with Valeriy Chaly”.

The issue of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and a possible increase in the number of countries that can produce nuclear charges continues to be in the spotlight.

Recently, there have appeared speculative materials in the world information space, which directly indicate the possibility of resuming the production of nuclear ammunition in Ukraine as an argument for countering Russia’s attempts to destroy Ukraine in the conditions of asymmetry of the military potentials of the two sides.

Questions for discussion:

  • Why have a number of statements, articles and comments regarding the potential possibilities of resuming Ukraine’s nuclear status appeared now? What could be the risks and consequences?
  • Is Ukraine capable of creating nuclear weapons? What to do in the conditions of actual neglect of the obligations contained in the Budapest Memorandum?
  • What is the official position of Ukraine and how to avoid double interpretations and the enemy’s use of official statements and comments regarding the sensitive “nuclear issue”?

SPEAKERS:

⦁ Valeriy Chaly, Chairman of the UCMC Board, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine.

⦁ Yuriy Kostenko, Minister of Environmental Protection and Nuclear Safety of Ukraine in 1992-1998, author of the book “History of Nuclear Disarmament of Ukraine”.
