Amid Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine and the global transformation of the international security architecture, the issue of Russian influence beyond the European sphere has become particularly relevant. This topic was the focus of the expert discussion “Russia’s Influence in Latin America and the Caribbean: Trends and Challenges,” during which participants examined Moscow’s “soft power” tools, the role of disinformation, and the implications of shifts in U.S. policy toward the region.
The event explored how Russia employs informational, cultural, diplomatic, and economic mechanisms to strengthen its positions in Latin American countries, as well as how the weakness of alternative narratives creates a favorable environment for the spread of Russian propaganda.
The event is held within the framework of the “United for Truth” project, supported by the Canada Ukraine Foundation.
