The occupier plans to build a park “on the bones” in Crimea

Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova: the occupier plans to build a park “on the bones” in Bakhchisarai. Ignoring the customs, traditions, culture of the indigenous people of Crimea – the Crimean Tatars on the territory of the ancient Muslim cemetery in Bakhchisarai, the aggressor plans to create a recreation area.

Back in February, construction equipment had already entered the territory of the ancient Sauskan cemetery, which is also called Khan’s. Crimean Tatars continue to fight for their values, write letters to the occupying power demanding to stop construction, but to no avail.

Citizens of Ukraine demand to urgently stop earthworks to create a park and use the cemetery as an entertainment area, which contradicts the religion and traditions of the Crimean Tatars.

The russian violate Articles 4 and 5 of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, which requires the occupying power to respect and ensure the protection and preservation of cultural property in the occupied territories.
