Russian Opposition Infighting. What’s going on?

Russian Opposition Infighting. What’s going on?

The Russian opposition is often viewed as brave fighters battling against the Kremlin’s dictatorial regime, whose goal is to create a democratic Russia. However, do Russian opposition members really spend their days fighting Putin? Or is it infighting that’s occupying their time?

The recent scandal between opposition members has been spanning for months, constantly involving new members and unearthing additional “shocking details”. At the center of it is the Anti-Corruption Foundation, also known as the FBK or the “Navalny’s Team”. Ironically, they are being accused of aiding in hiding some of their members’ money laundering schemes. On the opposite side is Maksim Katz, who is either “fighting to uncover the truth”, or a “liar, who sold himself to Russian secret services” – depending on which side of the conflict you ask. The commotion is still going strong, with both sides constantly finding new crimes to accuse each other of. However, one thing is clear: the opposition seems so focused on each other that they hardly have any time left to fight the Kremlin.
