This year marks the 142nd anniversary of Kazymyr Malevych — one of the most legendary avant-garde pioneers, whose famous work “Black Square” is recognized all over the world. The artist is often portrayed as Russian although he was born in Kyiv, lived in Ukraine until he was 17, and perceived himself as Ukrainian.
We want to tell the world more about the Ukrainian legacy of art that is misrepresented by Russia as their own. As part of our #UkraineExplained initiative, we aim at communicating a message of successful Ukraine to the world through actively telling the truth about it.Watch our video and rediscover Kazymyr Malevych:We are on this ride along with Ukraine Сrisis Media Center, Euromaidan Press, Stopfake, Internews Ukraine, and Texty.org.ua.
