Kyiv Persevering: standing strong against russian attack

Kyiv Persevering: standing strong against russian attack. Ukraine in Flames #220

October 10 was marked by one of the most brutal Russian attacks on Ukraine since the start of the large-scale war. For the whole day, Russian missiles were terrorizing Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, where the city center was hit.

Since February 24, the Ukrainian capital has been one of the key targets of Russian aggression. Russian imperialism still seeks to establish control over Kyiv since, on the symbolic level, it could represent control over Ukraine. As Russia is to capture the city militarily, it continues the tactics of terror of civilians. Another important aspect of the Russian style of war is targeting educational institutions and cultural objects.

Thus, on October 10, Russian missiles hit the Taras Shevchenko Museum, the Khanenko Museum, the Bohomolets National Medical University, the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Teachers’ House, where the Central Rada used to be over 100 years ago, and the buildings of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Suffering defeat after defeat on the frontline, the empire tries to destroy the Ukrainian culture and history but Ukrainians’ spirit is unbreakable and the capital of Ukraine remains strong and fearless.
