Ministry of Defense: Militants use no heavy armor in Donetsk sector

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses in combat yesterday and two troops were injured. 

The ceasefire held in the Donetsk sector yesterday.  Russian proxies used no heavy armor, informed the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on ATO related issues Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. They violated the ceasefire along the entire front line in the main flashpoints – at the Svitlodarsk bulge, in Zaitseve, Avdiivka and the Donetsk airport. In total, seven shooting attacks took place in the Donetsk sector yesterday.

Militants conducted a series of intensive mortar attacks in the Popasna district in the Luhansk sector between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Over 40 shells were launched at Ukrainian positions. “Moreover, the enemy shelled Ukrainian troops in Stanytsia Luhanska just after midnight and late at night. The armistice held in other areas,” said Col. Motuzyanyk.

In total, 10 militants’ attacks took place in the Luhansk sector yesterday and six of them involved use of heavy arms.

 

The ceasefire held in Krasnohorivka and Mariinka in the Mariupol sector, but militants violated the armistice to the south, in Slavne and Novotroitske.  “The situation near the Avoz Sea remains unchanged, as militants are shooting day and night, actively using heavy armor. Virtually every Ukrainian stronghold came under hostile fire,” added the spokesman. Militants’ mortar attacks took place in Pavlopil and Talakivka. In total, militants conducted 20 attacks in the Mariupol sector in the last 24 hours, and two attacks involved use of heavy armor.
