Kyiv, April 3, 2015. Oleksandr Kvitashvili, Ukraine’s Healthcare Minister, announced that the ministry is about to undergo a major restructurization process. The result of it should be formation of a new team of progressive reformers who can start the healthcare reform, stated Mr. Kvitashvili during the press-briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. New deputy ministers were appointed already. Oleksandra Pavlenko is assigned to deal with the legal side of the ministry’s activities, as well as HR policy and productive cooperation with other governmental bodies and civil society. Ihor Perehinets, on the other hand, is responsible for the national drug policy, state procurements, functioning of the medical aid provision department and collaboration with the international healthcare organizations.

Mr. Kvitashvili emphasized that the responsibilities and quality of services provided by all departmental heads will be reassessed. He has also announced the forthcoming staff changes in the pharmaceutics, financial and medical aid departments and the drugs’ quality assurance. “I have been learning about the structure of the Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine, talked to colleagues, analyzed the quality of their work, and worked on the reformist agenda for the ministry in the last four months. The restructurization is going to make the ministry more open, transparent and focus on the customer service to improve the health levels and life expectancy of Ukrainians,” Mr. Kvitashvili concluded.
