Ministry of Defense: Russia-backed militants fail to respect the recent ceasefire

Yesterday, Russia-backed militants attacked Ukrainian troops three times disrespecting the recently established ceasefire. “Ukrainian troops did not return fire,” reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Luhansk sector, Russian proxies shelled Ukrainian troops near Shchastia between 01:00-02:30 using 82-mm mortars and having fired four rounds. The attack was accompanied by the fire of grenade launchers and small arms. “Near Troitske, Russia-backed militants shelled Ukrainian troops’ defensive positions with 82-mm mortars between 04:30-05:30, they fired seven mortar rounds and used a heavy machine gun,” Colonel Hutsulyak said.

In Donetsk sector, Russian proxies delivered a precision attack upon the Ukrainian troops outside Novotroitske between 14:30-16:00 using grenade launchers and small arms.

“According to the updated information, one Ukrainian serviceman was wounded in action as a result of a hostile attack,” the ATO spokesperson emphasized.
