Tonight, at about three o’clock in the night, militants shelled Luhanske using 120-mm mortars. “The enemy fired on the resident areas 20 mines. Losses and destruction are being clarified”, reported Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Over the past day, militants made 56 precision attacks on Ukrainian troops’ positions.
“Russia-backed militants used eight 122-mm artillery shells. They fired with tank nine times. Moreover, the enemy fired sixty 120-mm and 82-mm mortar rounds”, added Col. Hutsulyak. Ukrainian troops had to return fire in 31 cases.
In Luhansk sector, the militants fired 50 mortars rounds. “In Novotoshkivske Russia-backed militants used 120-mm and 81-mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms”, elaborated Col. Hutsulyak. Moreover, the militants attacked Ukrainian troops near Zaytseve, Katerynivka, Krasne, Krymske and Svitlodarsk. They fired with 82-mm mortar, IFVs, grenade launchers and small arms.
In Donetsk sector, the enemy delivered forty-eight attacks against Ukrainian troops. “Russian proxies were active in Avdiivka, Hnutove, Krasnohorivka and Shyrokyno areas”, Colonel Hutsulyak said. At 5:30 the militants fired eight times with 122-mm artillery in Tonenke area. At the same time, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions near Novohtanivka using tank. They fired nine times. At night, Russian proxies fired with 120-mm mortars in Avdiivka area. Moreover, the militants used small arms, large caliber machine guns, grenade launchers and IFVs in 43 cases. They attacked Ukrainian troops near Avdiivka, Berezove, Verkhnyotoretske, Vodyane, Hnutove, Kamyanka, Nevelske, Opytne, Pisky, Pischevyk, Slavne and Shyrokyne.
As of 09:00 a.m. of May 6, Russia-backed militants made four precision attacks in Luhansk sector. “Three times the enemy attacked Ukrainian troops in Luhanske area, one more time – near Troitske. Russian proxies used 122-mm artillery, 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers and large caliber machine guns. They fired twenty artillery shells and more than sixty mortar rounds”, added Col. Hutsulyak.
In Donetsk sector, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions in Avdiivka, Vodyane, Pavlopil, Talakivka and Shyrokyne areas. The militants used small arms, large caliber machine guns, grenade launchers and IFVs.
Unfortunately, one Ukrainian serviceman was wounded in action.
