This week, fighting continued to rage all along the front lines. Russia continued to strike Ukrainian cities and towns deep in the rear with missiles and drones.

A Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine overnight on Monday killed nine people and injured 38 others in the capital, Kyiv. The most severe damage occurred in the city’s Shevchenkivskyi district, where one section of a five-story apartment building collapsed. A Russian missile attack on the city of Dnipro on Tuesday morning killed at least 21 people and wounded 340 others, including 38 children. The strike left wide destruction. Russian attacks on Sumy that use Grad unguided artillery systems must be investigated as war crimes, Amnesty International said in a report released this week.

Russia is preparing for a future conflict with NATO, the Institute for the Study of War said. Russia is preparing new military operations in Europe, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on Sunday after receiving intelligence from the military intelligence chief, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov.  

Ukrainian troops have halted the advances of Russian forces in border areas of Sumy region, and the contact line was stabilized, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Thursday. The city of Kostyantynivka, in Donetsk region, is on the edge of a humanitarian catastrophe, local authorities said, urging residents to evacuate.

This week’s NATO summit in The Hague has exceeded expectations and gave hope to Ukraine, a Ukrainian news site said in an editorial.

Russia fires 363 drones, eight missiles towards Ukraine overnight, mostly targeting Starokostyantyniv.

Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia had launched 363 Shahed and decoy drones and eight missiles toward Ukraine, including two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ballistic missiles and six Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles. Ukraine’s air defenses shot down or otherwise neutralized 359 drones (of which 148 disappeared off radar) and all six Kalibr missiles. The main target for the attack was the city of Starokostyantyniv in western Khmelnytskyi region, home to an airbase.

Ukraine’s air defenses destroyed two cruise missiles and 22 Shahed drones over the region, head of the Khmelnytskyi regional military administration, Serhiy Tyurin said on Friday morning. The attack damaged a fence of a private home and a car, he added, saying that more details of the impact were being clarified.
