Ukraine strikes nine tankers of Russia’s shadow fleet in Azov Sea
Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck nine tankers from Russia’s shadow fleet in the Azov Sea overnight on Wednesday, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Major Robert Brovdi who goes by the call sign Magyar said in a post to social media.
In the past three days, Ukrainian drones struck a total of 19 tankers, a dry cargo ship and a ferry in Kerch, Crimea.
Brovdi also said that Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces had struck 53 military targets in Crimea, including six power substations, overnight on Wednesday. Ukraine struck a total of 50 energy facilities in Crimea between July 1 and July 8, he added.
The strikes were coordinated with the Deep Strike Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
Governor of Russia’s Rostov region, Yuriy Slyusar, said two tankers had come under attack in the Taganrog Gulf on Wednesday. Telegram channel Crimean Wind (Krymskyi Veter) said Wednesday that a power substation in the Kerch peninsula had caught fire. Power outages are imposed on Crimea after Ukrainian strikes.
Brovdi said Tuesday that the Unmanned Systems Forces had struck two Russian tankers in the Azov Sea and five power substations in Crimea.
Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces strike two oil refineries in Russia
“Deep strike” units of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces struck two oil refineries in Nizhnekamsk, in Russia’s Tatarstan region overnight on Wednesday, the agency said in a post to social media.
“TANECO and TAIF-NK oil refineries are on fire. Several drones of the Special Operations Forces hit target,” the statement reads.
“TANECO is one of the largest and most technologically advanced Russian oil refineries. The facility has a refining depth of up to 99 per cent. It means that the plant produces more gasoline, diesel and jet fuel out of each ton of crude than most of the older factories,” the Special Operations Forces said.
“TAIF-NK is the second largest oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk. It processes up to 8.5 million tons of crude annually. It comprises one of Russia’s most complex facilities that process heavy oil residues,” it added.
Regional authorities reported damage to plants in Nizhnekamsk after a drone attack.
