Kyiv, 23 June 2014 –ATO forces started execution of President’s Peace Plan in ATO areas in Eastern regions of Ukraine to settle the situation and protect the national border. “Over the past 24 hours, eight attacks occurred in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Four of them were directed at defence checkpoints and the other four, at the military column, that was on the move executing the anti terrorist operations. During the earlier attacks 5 Ukrainian servicemen and one border guard were injured”, reported Vladyslav Selezniov, the official spokesman for the anti-terrorist operation, from the ground during a phone briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
Vladyslav Selezniov also stated that during these attacks the militants were using weapons that are not available in Ukraine, in particular 12.7mm sniper rifles.
Commenting on the issue of the raising provocations on the borderline with the Russian Federation, Vladyslav Selezniov said that control along the whole Ukraine-Russia border has been strengthened.
