Ministry of Defense: Troitske remains main flashpoint in Luhansk sector

Occupants are violating ceasefire both during the day and at night. Krasnohorivka,  Mariinka, Vodiane and Shyrokyne were the main flashpoints.

“Almost all militants’ attacks took place in Stanytsia Luhanska and Popasna districts. Troitske remained the main flashpoint in the Luhansk sector, as five brief mortar attacks and a number of smaller militant provocations took place there,” said the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on ATO related issues Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Moreover, militants opened fire at the potential area of forces and equipment disengagement in Stanytsia Luhanska.  Shooting attacks continued almost three hours with recesses. Several firefights between militants and ATO troops took place in Zolote, Novooleksandrivka and Novozvanivka. A militants’ sniper was shooting at Ukrainian positions in Valuiske,” added the spokesman. In total, 19 attacks took place in the Luhansk sector yesterday, and six of them involved use of heavy armor.

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no casualties in combat in the last 24 hours.

Three massive firefights took place in the Avdiivka industrial area in the Donetsk sector – in the morning, during the day and in the evening –each lasted two hours. Moreover, militants intensively shelled Ukrainian positions in Zaitseve and Troitske of Yasynuvata district and in the Donetsk airport. Militants used no heavy armor. “The armistice held at the Svitlodarsk bulge and in Novoluhanske,” emphasized Col.  Motuzyanyk. In total, militants conducted nine attacks in the Donetsk sector yesterday.

The situation remained unchanged in the Mariupol sector.  Three militants’ attacks took place yesterday, and there were five mortar attacks. “Occupants are violating ceasefire both during the day and at night.
