Although intensity of combat actions around Avdiivka has decreased, the Donetsk sector remains epicenter of the tensest situation on the front. Areas in proximity to Mariupol and civilian infrastructure in the Luhansk sector came under hostile fire.

Ukrainian troops incurred no casualties in the combat zone over the last day – no troops were either killed or wounded in action. It was reported by Colonel Oleksandr Motuaynyk, spokesperson of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry on ATO-related issues.

In the Donestk sector the situation remains tense all along the contact line. Russia-backed militants were actively using heavy weapons both during the day time and at night. Tense situation stands in Avdiivka and at the Svitlodarsk bulge. “In these areas militants intensified their attacks in the second half of the day and remained active until late evening. They were massively using mortars, howitzers and tanks that were supposed to be withdrawn from the contact line in accordance with the Minsk agreements,” said ATO spokesperson. Russia-backed militants made a total of 33 attacks upon Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk sector over the last day. Almost two thirds of the attacks were made with the use of heavy weapons.

In the Luhansk sector Russia’s proxies continue intense attacks upon Ukrainian positions in Krymske. They are using artillery. As per Ukraine’s General Staff militants fired over 90 shells in the area over the last day. There were occasional ceasefire violations on the part of militants in Popasnyanska area, close to the Bakhmutska road and in Malynove located north of Stanytsia Luhanska. Russia’s proxies were using mortars in all the three locations. “Resulting from another hostile attack on the Bakhmutska road Zanivska water pump station was damaged. Five thousand persons residing north of the impact area – in Toshkivka and Toshkivka-1 villages were left without water supply,” Colonel Motuzyanyk said. There were 25 militant attacks in the Luhansk sector over the last day. Violations with the use of heavy weapons account for one third of the attacks.

In the Mariupol sector tense situation was observed on the city’s eastern outskirts, especially in Lebedynske and Shyrokyne. “Occupant forces made a massive attack there yesterday in the evening. They used artillery and mortars. Earlier on the same day militants were widely using small arms and occasionally 82-mm mortars,” said. Adjacent villages incurred damages in course of the above attacks upon Ukrainian positions. Shell hit a sub power station leaving Talakivka, Hnutove and Sartana without power. In Maryinka Russia-backed militants violated ceasefire three times. They were using heavy weapons in the last two attacks. Control point across the contact line in the area came under their fire yet again. It was quiet on the outskirts of Dokuchayevsk. Militants made a total of 24 attacks in the Mariupol sector over the last day, 10 of them included the use of heavy weapons.
