Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses in combat yesterday, and six troops were wounded.
Militants continue shooting along the entire frontline, most intensively in the Donetsk sector. They opened fire 42 times there, using heavy armor 21 times. Insurgents conducted 19 attacks in the Luhansk sector and 28 attacks in the Mariupol sector. They used heavy armor in the Luhansk and Mariupol sector 9 and 6 times correspondingly. Militants were shooting from mortars at the Svitlodarsk bulge in the afternoon, engaging artillery in several hours. “The situation was difficult in the vicinity of Horlivka too. Adversaries violated the armistice in Zaitseve, Novhorodske and Verkhniotoretske. Militants used mortar launchers and armored weapons in particular,” added Col. Motuzyanyk.
The situation remained unchanged in Avdiivka. Militants attacked several times in the morning and switched to more intense firefights in the afternoon. They were shooting for six hours non-stop from southeast direction using mortar launchers and tanks. The situation is similar in Butovka coal mine position, where firefights continue 24/7. “The situation was also restless in Kamianka, Opytne and Pisky yesterday. Therefore, almost all our strongholds came under hostile fire yesterday,” said the spokesman.
The situation somewhat escalated in the Luhansk sector yesterday. Militants were massively using heavy armor – mortar launchers and cannons – in Krymske and near Popasna.
They launched about 50 mortar shells and almost 90 projectiles. Almost all attacks took place in the afternoon – from 6 p.m. till midnight. Ukrainian troops responded with fire several times. Moreover, militants violated the ceasefire in Stanytsia Luhanska and Novotoshkivske.
In the Mariupol sector Russian proxies conducted the most attacks in Pavlopil -Shyrokyne frontline area. They were shooting in Hnutove. Militants were shelling several Ukrainian strongholds at once in the afternoon, shooting from various directions. “Occupants were using cannons and mortar launchers, and they were deployed were closely to the frontline. About 100 mortar shells and projectiles were launched at our positions,” said Col. Motuzyanyk. Moreover, Russia-backed militant groups conducted mortar attacks in Mariinka, Novotroitske and Chermalyk. Mariinka checkpoint was damaged too. Attacks continue in other areas as well, but they are far less intensive there.
