OSCE: Almost 15 thousand cases of ceasefire violations registered last week

OSCE Special Monitoring Mission registered 14698 cases of ceasefire violations,  when round were fired from tanks,  artillery and other weapons,  said Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “We registered increase in the number of ceasefire violations by 15 % compared to the week before. Nevertheless, last week demonstrated the decrease in number of explosion attributed to the Minsk proscribed weapons, namely tanks, mortars and multiple rocket launchers, by some 60 %: 911 explosions compared to 2238 the previous week,” said Hug.
On March 10 OSCE monitors spotted three self-propelled artillery pieces in Khreshchatytske, on the side of self-proclaimed “Luhansk People’s Republic”. “The village is located at nine km from the contact line.  According to the agreements on weapons withdrawal,  these weapons should have been withdrawn at least 25 km from the contact line,” emphasized Hug. OSCE unmanned aerial vehicle registered a towed howitzer on March 14 in government-controlled Vyskryva village of Luhansk region, 10 km from the contact line.
