Ministry of Defense: Militants continue artillery attacks, wound civilian, damage six private houses and a car

In Mariupol sector, militants shelled Olhynka village in our rear area with 152-mm artillery deployed near Dokuchaievsk after midnight, damaging 4 private houses, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Andriy Lysenko during a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Later, the combat operations moved to Chermalyk – Shyrokyne frontline and continued until the end of the day. “Russian proxies attacked our positions with small arms almost around the clock. In Talakivka and Vodiane enemy snipers were active. Besides, militants fired 2 mortar rounds each at our fortifications in Chermalyk and Vodiane,” noted Col. Lysenko. Overall, in Mariupol sector militants conducted 22 attacks.

In Luhansk sector, the main hostilities took place at Popasna and Krymske-Novotyshkivske frontline. In both areas militants used mortars and repeatedly opened harassing fire. “The enemy also violated the ceasefire in Lobacheve, Schastia and Stanytsya Luhanska. Overall, the enemy conducted 15 attacks in Luhansk sector yesterday, using heavy weapons in every third of them,” added the spokesman.

In Donetsk sector, militants attacked along the entire frontline except northern suburbs of Horlivka, mostly in Svitlodarsk area and near Avdiivka. Pro-Russian troops widely used heavy weapons, firing about 60 mortar rounds in both areas. “In Avdiivka, one of militants’ attacks wounded a local resident, and damaged two houses and a car,” informed the spokesperson. Militants did not use heavy weapons in other areas. Overall, the enemy conducted 15 attacks in Donetsk sector, five of them involved mortars.

One Ukrainian serviceman was killed and seven were wounded in action yesterday, reported Col. Lysenko.
