Ministry of Defense: Militants use artillery and tanks


In Luhansk sector, the main hostilities took place in Popasna district after 19:00, where Russian proxies used mortars three times and accompanied shelling with intense small arms fire, reported Col. Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO, at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. However, already before dawn militants carried out two artillery attacks in Novoaidar district. Russian proxies also violated the ceasefire in Stanytsia Luhanska district and in Zhovte. Overall, they conducted 13 attacks in Luhansk sector using heavy weapons in five of them. All attacks except one took place in the nighttime.

In Donetsk sector, militants violated the ceasefire mostly in Kamianka–Avdiivka-Opytne-Pisky frontline after 19:00. Pro-Russian troops used tanks twice and IFV once. “The enemy violated the ceasefire eight times in Donetsk sector yesterday. Militants shelled Luhanske for an hour. Meanwhile, Horlivka was peaceful,” said Col. Motuzyanyk.

In Mariupol sector, hostilities continued around the clock. Militants used mortars in Starohnativka and Lebedynske. “The situation in Hnutove-Vodiane frontline was very tense yesterday between midnight and 04:00. Our troops engaged the enemy multiple times there,” said Col. Motuzyanyk. In Maryinka district, militants conducted two attacks, bringing the count of ceasefire violations in the sector to 14.

No Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action yesterday, but two were wounded.
