Ministry of Defense: Russian proxies shell the residential areas of Loskutivka, destroy two houses

Yesterday, at 01:00, militants shelled Loskutivka village in Luhansk region. They attacked residential areas with ten 152-mm artillery shells. “Gas pipeline, water pipeline and power lines are damaged, two buildings were completely destroyed, another six suffered significant destructions. Fortunately, there were no casualties”, reported Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Maksym Prauta at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Over the past day, militants made 57 precision attacks on Ukrainian troops’ positions. Russian proxies fired more than two hundred 120-mm and 82-mm mortar rounds and about hundred 122-mm artillery shells. Ukrainian troops had to return fire in 30 cases.

In Luhansk sector, the militants made 20 precision attacks and used 122-mm artillery six times. “The enemy shelled Ukrainian troops in Popasna, Zalizne, Luhanske and Troitske areas having fired a total of hundred 122-mm artillery rounds”, added Col. Prauta. Moreover, the militants attacked Ukrainian positions in Luhanske, Novozvanivka, Zaitseve, Zolote, Troitske and Krymske areas with 120-mm and 82-mm mortars having fired two hundred rounds. Russian proxies made three precision attacks near Krymske and five attacks near Novozvanivka using grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. In addition, near Troitske the enemy used IFVs.

In Donetsk sector, the enemy delivered thirty-seven attacks. “In the evening the militants attacked Ukrainian positions in Avdiivka using 82-mm mortars, ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft cannons, and IFVs. Between 17:40 and 18:40 Russian proxies attacked Joint Forces near Shakhta Butovka with IFVs and grenade launchers”, elaborated Col. Prauta.

Russia-backed militants used heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and small arms near Pischevyk, Shyrokyne, Vodiane, Verkhniotoretske, Hnutove, Krasnohorivka, Opytne, Pisky, Avdiivka, Maryinka, Pavlopil, Kamianka, and Shakhta Butovka.

As of the morning of May 9, the enemy made 11 precision attacks against Ukrainian troops. In the morning, Russian proxies attacked Joint Forces in Avdiivka using 82-mm mortars. “During this night, Russia-backed militants used grenade launchers, large caliber machine guns and small arms in Vodiane Shyrokyne, Pavlopil, Pisky, Pischevyk, Hnutove, and Shakhta Butovka areas”, Col. Prauta said.

Unfortunately, five Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action yesterday. One Ukrainian serviceman was killed today.
