Deputies of Crimean state council appointed Konstantin Bakharev the first deputy speaker. The following decision has been adopted at the special session of the Crimean parliament on 30 July. Grygory Ioffe who was his predecessor resigned as he had been appointed the head of the Public Chamber of Crimea.

Members of the Crimean State Council have passed the law on election of the head of the Crimean Republic. Three candidates for the post will be proposed by the Russian president. Local MPs will then have 20 days to study them and vote for each candidate separately. “Should no candidate gain enough votes, another round of voting will be organized for the two candidates with the most votes. The winner will head the republic for 5 years and have the authority of a member of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament,” the document states.
