UK Prime Minister announces largest-ever military aid package to Ukraine worth more than USD 600 million

The UK will send its largest-ever military support package for Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on X Tuesday after holding a call with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. 

The package amounts to GBP 500 million (USD 620 million) of new spending and includes additional Storm Shadow missiles, strike and air defense missiles, protected mobility and armored vehicles, boats and small arms ammunition.

“I am grateful to the UK and personally to Prime Minister Sunak for such a strong demonstration of support and for the willingness to further develop our defense cooperation, especially with an emphasis on maritime and long-range capabilities,” Zelenskyi said.

Russian missile strike on suburbs of Dnipro injures eight people

A Russian missile strike on the suburbs of Dnipro on Tuesday injured eight people, head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak said. The injury toll rose from early reports of four. At least seven people were taken to hospital. 

Explosions rocked Poltava on Tuesday after an air raid alert was declared in the region. The Ukrainian Air Force warned of two missiles headed toward the city. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties. 

A Russian air strike on Kharkiv hit an area of private houses in the city’s Saltivskyi district. Earlier on Tuesday, explosions rocked Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia after the Ukrainian Air Force warned of an inbound ballistic missile threat.

Lithuania’s M577 armored vehicles arrive in Ukraine

Lithuania has sent M577 armored command post vehicles to Ukraine. They arrived Tuesday in the country, Lithuania’s defense ministry said. The exact number of vehicles is unclear.  

This year, Lithuania has provided EUR 84 million in aid to Ukraine and wants to maintain the dynamics. 

On Saturday, Lithuania announced that it had recently delivered a disassembled L-39ZA Albatros light ground support aircraft to Ukraine.

Last week, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda voiced concerns over the allies losing the focus on Ukraine. Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Gabrielius Landsbergis urged EU member states to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.
