Number of Swiss-hosted peace summit participants drops from 93 to 78, according to media reports

The number of countries that have confirmed attending the Swiss-hosted Ukraine peace summit has dropped from 93 to 78, RFE/RL said on Wednesday, citing several EU diplomats who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The diplomats did not name the countries that had cancelled their participation. One of the diplomats also said the list could still grow.

“My goal is to have the family photo of almost 80 people,” the diplomat said. At the same time, another diplomat voiced optimism, saying that “there is still some time left,” RFE/RL said.

President Zelenskyi earlier said that 107 countries have confirmed attending the conference. Swiss president Viola Amherd told reporters earlier this week that nearly 90 countries and organizations have confirmed attending the Ukraine peace summit.

RFE/RL turned for comment to the Office of the President of Ukraine to clarify the number of participants, but has received no answer yet.

Ukraine destroys two radars of S-300, S-400 air defense systems in Crimea

Ukraine said on Wednesday it had once again hit three Russian air defense systems in Crimea overnight.

Ukraine launched a barrage of missiles at an S-300 air defense system near Belbek and at two S-400 systems near Belbek and Sevastopol.

As a result of the strikes, two radars of the S-300 and S-400 systems were destroyed. Information about the third radar is being clarified, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.

It also said the attack had caused munitions to detonate at all three sites where the air defense systems were stationed.

“To be continued,” Ukraine’s military said.

Ukraine’s defense intelligence confirms two Su-57 fighter jets were damaged

Ukraine’s defense intelligence confirmed that a drone attack on June 8 damaged two Russian Su-57 fighter jets.

“One Su-57 aircraft was largely damaged, the other one suffered lighter damage and may be possible to restore sooner,” Andriy Yusov, a Ukrainian defense intelligence representative said on television.

The Su-57s were hit for the first time, Yusov added. They are the newest bombers and the pride of the Russian Air Force.
