On the eve of the regular session of the UN General Assembly amid a deep crisis faced by this universal international organization, the question arises whether it will fulfill the functions and provisions on maintaining international peace and security specified in its Charter, or whether it will turn into a completely different organization, or even disappear. Is its resurgence possible? These issues concern Ukraine directly and are further accentuated in the context of the ongoing war waged by russia against Ukraine. World leaders, including the President of Ukraine and the President of the United States, will speak about this from the UN rostrum this week.
Right after participation in the UN events in New York, the President of Ukraine will move to Washington, where new important meetings, decisions and statements are expected. What should be done to make this visit of the Ukrainian delegation as effective as possible?
These and other important issues will be discussed within the framework of the Geopolitical Dialogues format by Ukrainian diplomats who have experience in these areas – Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, Volodymyr Yelchenko and Valeriy Chaly.
Questions for discussion:
- How to ensure security in the world in the conditions of a deep UN crisis?
- Will changes in the UN Security Council architecture allow for restoring the implementation of the UN Charter?
- How to deepen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States to the level of allied relations?
