Despite the promise not to mobilize parts of the Russian population for the war against Ukraine, Putin has announced that 300,000 troops are to be called up starting from September 21.
The corresponding decree does not mention the categories of persons falling under mobilization so it may potentially involve all males from 18 to 65 years old.
Incidentally, today is one of the Days of Military Honour in Russia, which makes the announcement of mobilization quite a gift to the Russian people from the president.
