After Russia’s large-scale attack on the Ukrainian critical infrastructure on November 15 that affected Poland most directly, with a Russian-made missile hitting a village next to the Polish-Ukrainian border and killing two people, Russian propaganda has actively pushed disinformation blaming Ukraine for the “aggression”. The Kremlin disinformation has tried to use the tragedy to sever the relations between the two partner countries and undermine Polish support for Ukraine, which has been outstanding throughout the war in all spheres.
Although Warsaw says the missile that fell on the Polish territory likely belonged to the Ukrainian air defense that was intercepting Russian missile attacks, Poland and NATO put all responsibility on Russia, as its brutal attack against Ukraine was the sole cause for the activation of the Ukrainian air defense in the first place. The investigation is still ongoing, and its final results are yet to be revealed.
