Vladimir Putin personally ordered the Russian occupiers to rape Ukrainian children and women. This was stated by Lyudmila Denisova, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, in an interview with Blick.
She stressed that violence against Ukrainians is a direct weapon of the enemy against the civilian population and sexual violence plays the central role here, because it was tactically aimed by Putin.
“They want to deprive women of the opportunity or desire to have children again. This is a clear genocide. Soldiers rely on Putin’s orders to destroy the entire country,” Denisova said.
After the liberation of Kyiv region from enemy’s occupation, people began to report rape by Russians. Subsequently, the psychological support hotline received more than 400 calls with stories of Russian sexual violence against Ukrainians.
According to Lyudmila Denisova, appeals about sexual violence from the temporarily occupied territories are received only when communication is restored there. But there have been no calls from Mariupol so far.
