On the evening of April 28, the Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on a residential area of Kyiv. The Russians attacked the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city during the stay of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the capital. Vira Hyrych, a journalist and producer of Radio Liberty, died as a result of the shelling.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, there were two hits on the lower floors of a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district. 4 people were injured and hospitalized.
The SES of Ukraine informed that a fire broke out in a 25-story residential building with partial destruction of the 1st and 2nd floors as a result of enemy shelling.
On the morning of April 29, rescuers found the body while dismantling the rubble of the house. The deceased was Vira Hyrych, a journalist and producer of Radio Liberty.

This shelling of Kyiv by the Russians was particularly cynical, as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was in the capital. He arrived in Kyiv just after he visited Putin.
