Discussions during 27th Economic Forum: what to look for

“America first, Europe second? The future of the alliance”

The political spectrum in majority of countries is being modified considerably, mostly due to the replacement of countries’ authorities. Recently, the whole world could observe the elections in one of the most powerful countries on our planet – The United States of America, where the political power went to the Republican Party and to President Donald Trump, and in France, where the heated national debate was eventually won by President Emmanuel Macron. In the wake of these events, the geopolitical order has gained a brand new image.

During the debate, its participants will accept the challenge to answer most intriguing questions, for example: To what extent Great Britain’s exit from the European Union will affect the relations as well as the alliances concluded between the Old Continent and the United States of America? What will be the shape of the future transatlantic dialogue?

Günter Nooke, Angela Merkel’s Personal Representative for Africa, will participate in this year’s Economic Forum in Krynica.

Günter Nooke, the Personal Representative of the German Chancellor for Africa in the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, will take part in a panel discussion on the topic “Africa – Europe: How to Strengthen the Cooperation?”.

Immigration and Labour Market – Profits and Challenges

The phenomenon of migration and the unstable situation on the labor market are two major problems that Europe must face. In this context, the phenomenon of immigration can be seen in countries with a high rate of unemployment as the influx of competition but also as a remedy for aging European societies. How will the migration affect the situation on the European labor markets? How the situation on the labour market influences the perception of migration?

Stanislaw Szwed, Secretary of State, Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Poland; Thorsten Klute, Secretary of State, Ministry of Employment, Integration and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany; Larysa Lisohor, Director for Labour Market of the Institute for Demography and Social Studies, National Academy of Science, Ukraine; Franz Wolf, Director, Austrian Integration Fund.

The panel will be hosted by Sven Astheimer from Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
