Overview

Ukraine’s economy contracted sharply in 2015. Obstacles on the way to economic growth include endemic corruption, mismanagement of the state sector, heavy external debt and a large shadow economy. The government in Kyiv has taken steps to restructure the debt, deregulate the business environment and reform public procurement, but much remains to be done.

Ihor Burakovsky and Ivan Mikloš will discuss Ukraine’s economic outlook for the coming year, and the most urgent priorities. They will analyze the government’s economic strategy, or lack thereof, and best targets for Western economic aid. They will offer initial remarks for approximately ten minutes each, followed by an hour for questions and discussion.

This event will be held on the record.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
