The resistance we see in the newly occupied territories of Ukraine is striking. People keep going to peaceful protests for Ukraine, resist the Russian tanks unarmed, and refuse to accept the “humanitarian aid” from the occupiers.
However, Russia persists in attempts to break the civil resistance and force Ukrainians to cooperate with the occupiers. It employs a range of tactics, among which:
- using weapons against unarmed protesters;
- kidnapping and/or killing members of local authorities, journalists, activists;
- mass deportation of Ukrainians to Russia;
