Forced mobilization in Crimea: Russians attempting a genocide again?

On September 21, Putin announced the so-called ‘partial mobilization’ in Russia. According to the dictator’s plan, it also covers the annexed Crimea and other occupied Ukrainian territories, which violates the Geneva Conventions.

Ukrainian citizens are forcibly mobilized on the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia to fight against their country and compatriots. Consequently, they are turned into accomplices of the international crime Russia has been committing.

Thus, the Crimean people avoid getting summons to the Russian occupation military commissariat in all ways possible. Even though Russia claims it has already fulfilled the mobilization needs, the illegal military ‘hunting’ continues.

Through this criminal mobilization in the Ukrainian territories, Russia has been committing a cynical genocide of the Ukrainian and Tatar people. Crimean Tatars are 80–90% of the mobilized people in Crimea. Thus, Russia continues implementing Stalin’s policy of the extermination of the Crimean Tatars.
