Ukraine’s Bucha: atrocities and rebirth

Mass graves and torture chambers found in Bucha after the Russian occupation, Bucha showed the world the true face of the “Russian world”: violence, destruction, and death. Russian army left behind 11,507 buildings partially damaged and 73,000 internally displaced persons in the Bucha district.

Now, as the clearance of territories from explosive objects has been organized, Bucha comes back to life against all odds. While material damage caused by Russian aggression in every community constitutes tens of millions of euros, the moral damage to people who lost their relatives and homes cannot be compensated.

With 7 modular towns launched and inhabited, the Bucha district needs the help of our international partners, charity organization, and volunteers so that people won’t be forced to survive winter without electricity, heat, and water supply. While Russians target Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to provoke a humanitarian crisis in Ukrainian cities and demoralize civilians, Ukrainians become even more united and determined in their struggle for freedom.

Deputy head of Bucha regional state (military) administration Kostiantyn Katayev, head of the Dmytrivka village council Taras Didych, and first deputy of the head of the community council within the Bucha regional state (military) administration in the Kyiv region Olha Kvasova discuss the damages and rebirth of Bucha in the Kyiv region.
