Forced Deportations to Russification: Unpacking Russia’s Genocidal Intent

Forced deportations have become another powerful Russian weapon in a war against Ukraine. Since the times of the Russian empire, the politics of the occupational regime was focused on the assimilation of Ukrainians.

The Soviet times continues the practice of deportations and changing the ethnic composition of the Ukrainian population. Now, the aggressor is turning the deportation of Ukrainian children into a method of war.

While Russian children’s rights ombudswoman Maria Lvova-Belova denies the fact that Russia tries to eradicate Ukrainian identity, Russian war crimes against Ukrainian children happen systematically, becoming another problem for Ukraine.

UKRAINE IN FLAMES project is created by Ukraine Crisis Media Center and NGO “Euroatlantic Course”. We are aiming at searching a loud support for Ukraine in the war started by Russia on the 24th of February 2022.
