How Russia reenacts genocide by famine in Ukraine

1921-1923, 1932-1933, 1946-1947 – these are the three famines from which Ukraine suffered as a result of the Soviet totalitarian policies. The Holodomor of 1932-1933 – a genocide planned and committed by the Kremlin against the Ukrainian peasantry – will forever remain in the historical memory of Ukrainians.

However, in 2022, Russia decided to demonstrate the continuity of its inhuman methods of warfare. In total, almost 170,000 people in Mariupol are suffering from hunger, according to Ukrainian Ombudsperson Lyudmila Denisova. The Russians do not allow humanitarian convoys from Ukraine and international organizations into the city. At the same time, in their propaganda, they talk about the distribution of meager food kits, which are barely enough for several thousand people.

The winner of the Eurovision band Kalush Orchestra from the stage in Turin called on the 200 million audience of the main music event in Europe to help in any way to save the besieged Mariupol civilians and Azovstal defenders. Today, the wifes of 4 defenders of Mariupol from the Azov Regiment said that their men have only one glass of technical water at all and they take 1 sip every five to six hours. Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian fashion designer, representative of the sixties movement, winner of the Vasyl Stus Prize Lyubov Panchenko died at the age of 85 after a month of starvation during the occupation of Bucha.

The occupiers are exporting grain stolen from farmers to the occupied Crimea. In particular, according to the Center for Combating Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the occupiers robbed the Novooleksiyivsky elevator and took grain to the Crimea. This can be confirmed by the reports of the residents of Sevastopol that a few days ago the sea terminal for grain transshipment started operating, the reserves of which simply do not exist in the Crimea. At a time when the invaders gave an ultimatum to farmers in the Kherson region – the occupiers will allow to sow only grain and sunflower, if the Ukrainians agree to give free 70% of the future harvest. All this is just a part of the atrocities that Ukrainians experience every day from the Russian occupiers.
